Free Himalayan Language Book Distribution
Many Himalayan languages are highly endangered. This is compounded by low rates of literacy among remote mountain communities. Here at Alatala we have written a simple counting book about a family of yaks on a picnic. Yartung Mustang Folk Song Collection
In the Varagung region of Mid-Mustang, locals estimate that 40% of folk songs have already been lost forever. The Varagung language (a dialect of Tibetan), is almost exclusively spoken by the older generation and likewise is at an imminent threat of loss.
